-THE TRAVELER'S GUIDE TO LIFE AND EVERYTHING -
A TRAVELER'S GUIDE TO STATES YOU WOULDN'T THINK OF VACATIONING TO!!
-Chapter one -
IOWA
Motto - Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain
So earlier I was traveling the net, checking out free offers (free shampoo!!! And a free t-shirt!!) when an offer popped up, a free t-shirt and sunglasses, from the great state of Iowa's tourism board.
I've never thought of Iowa as a "Tourist destination", it probably ranks up there with such states as Kansas or North Dakota when I think of places I want to check out before I die (the old bucket list) but it being a dull Thursday night, I decided to open up Blogger and start a whole new blog, this one, and start with the state that hit my feed first;
MIGHTY IOWA!!
First some basics, Iowa is a state.
And it is known for corn; lots and lots of corn!!!
(There it is!!! Thanks Wikipedia!!!! Source for your viewing pleasure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa )
Okay, there's more details than that but it's a start somewhere, right?
I know these blogs get hits from lots outside of the world; and someday I'll meander outside of the 50 states and move into the world, but for now, WELCOME TO IOWA!!!
According to Wikipedia ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa )
Iowa (/ˈaɪəwə/ (listen))[6][7][8] is a U.S. state in the Midwestern United States, bordered by the Mississippi River to the east and the Missouri and Big Sioux rivers to the west. It is bordered by six states; Wisconsin to the northeast, Illinois to the east, Missouri to the south, Nebraska to the west, South Dakota to the northwest, and Minnesota to the north.
In colonial times, Iowa was a part of French Louisiana and Spanish Louisiana; its state flag is patterned after the flag of France. After the Louisiana Purchase, people laid the foundation for an agriculture-based economy in the heart of the Corn Belt.[9]In the latter half of the 20th century, Iowa's agricultural economy made the transition to a diversified economy of advanced manufacturing, processing, financial services, information technology, biotechnology, and green energy production.[10][11] Iowa is the 26th most extensive in land area and the 30th most populous of the 50 U.S states. Its capital and largest city by population is Des Moines. Iowa has been listed as one of the safest states in which to live.[12] Its nickname is the Hawkeye State.
I never really thought much about Iowa let alone travel there to see the sites, to scare the citizens into fleeing away from me, or chase me out of the state with burning torches and sharp pitch forks but when it popped up in my searches for free stuff, I hit the Travel Iowa site, checking out the scene!
